Ram Tests Electric Trucks in Detroit

We here at Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge know that drivers in the greater Pittsburg area need to get work done. That's why so many who are in need of a reliable truck turn to Ram. The American automaker produces some of the most reliable, capable, and powerful pickups in the world today.
That said, we're often left to wonder how vehicles like the Ram 1500 could possibly get any better. And no sooner than we start considering does Ram trucks come out and announce their first ever all-electric truck.
Known as the Ram 1500 PHEV, the truck promises to deliver greater mileage per dollar than almost any vehicle on the road today, truck, SUV, or car. This is because pure-electric vehicles can travel further without consuming as much energy. And when all you need to do at the end of the day is plug your vehicle in and charge it, the amount that you pay is greatly reduced, as electricity is far cheaper to produce than gasoline.
Unfortunately, Ram doesn't have any plans for a release in the near future. For now, the company is testing a fleet of Ram 1500 PHEV models with DTE Energy in Detroit. "Cities have been carefully selected to help the Chrysler Group LLC collect a wide range of data," says Abdullah Bazzi, Senior Manager of Advanced Hybrid Vehicle Projects for Chrysler. "Working with a local energy partner like DTE that is in our backyard offers a great combination of suburban and rural driving, as well as ever-changing Michigan weather, is ideal as a test cycle for these vehicles."1
