Dodge has been clearing some room in its lineup lately, and for good reason. The American automaker is fortifying its image of efficiency, safety, and reliability even further by bringing new offerings to the forefront of the market, and the first step in this process is set to be the 2013 Dodge Dart.

For those of you who don't know, the Dart is actually a Dodge model of yesteryear. The vehicle was huge in the 1960s, but Dodge isn't looking to bring it back in its rather dated form. The company is redesigning the Dart from the ground up, and we here at Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge couldn't be more thrilled.

First we'll take a look under the hood. In the name of greater fuel economy and performance Dodge is offering the new Dart with a 1.4 liter turbo, 2.0-liter, or 2.4-liter engine. This range gives consumers the choice to gauge how much fuel savings they'd like in comparison to performance. In other words, there will be a Dart for everyone.

As for fuel economy itself... Dodge is claiming that at least one of the trim levels for the 2013 Dart will hit the 40 mpg mark. We're hoping that multiple trims achieve this feat, since it means that the most eco-friendly model in the lineup could even exceed it. And more fuel economy is never a bad thing!

Then there's the vehicle's exterior design. Dodge is turning to its new partner, Fiat for a little inspiration in that department. More specifically, the 2013 Dart will be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, but given a little Dodge attitude in order to make it appeal to American consumers.
