Dodge Grand Caravan Hits High Sales Marks Despite Impending End

It's safe to say that most of the automotive world, including everyone at Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge was recently shocked to learn that Dodge is planning to cancel its flagship minivan, the Grand Caravan. This move becomes even more of a mystery too when you consider the fact that the Grand Caravan has sold quite well recently; a trend that shows no sign of stopping up until its now inevitable discontinuation.
More specifically, the Dodge Grand Caravan experienced an incredible bout of sales in October. In fact, it sold an incredible 92,930 units, putting it at the top in terms of minivan sales.
No, the vehicle's discontinuation has nothing to do with sales within its segment and everything to do with efficiency and consumer trends. While the sales numbers don't reflect it right now, the minivan is in a decline, and its competition segment, the crossover SUV is on fire. Dodge has even gone as far as to announce plans to replace the Grand Caravan with a yet-to-be-announced crossover model in the near future. Some speculate that it could be a redesign to the already-popular Dodge Journey, while others claim that it could be a whole new model.
Of course, we simply want to know what you think. Is Dodge making a good move by switching the Grand Caravan from a minivan to a crossover? Or are these smaller SUVs simply a fad that cannot match up to the time-tested value of a true minivan? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
